Ph.D. Thesis provides a non-credit framework for the continuous monitoring and collegial discussion of PhD students' thesis research and writing, which they are expected to accomplish under the supervision of a thesis advisor plus two other examiners from the relevant field over three or four years following the completion of their course-work.
